Hyderabad lies in the Telangana region of the Deccan.Known for its rich history, cultural and religious monuments, and a long heritage in arts, crafts and dance, it is also among the most developed Indian cities and an emerging IT and biotech hub. Hyderabad and Secunderabad are twin cities, separated by Husain Sagar, an artificial lake built during the time of Ibrahim Qutb Shah in 1562. The old quarter of Hyderabad is home to the famous Charminar and Mecca Masjid. The city's urban sprawl is now home to 4.3 million people.
